Linking RDMO and RADAR

On February 01, 2024, the LIBER Research Data Management Working Group held the webinar "Data Management Plans: Use and Reuse". Kerstin Wedlich-Zachodin (KIT) and Kerstin Soltau (FIZ Karlsruhe) presented the linking of RDMO with RADAR: Linking a DMP tool to a repository: an update on the use of RDMO and RADAR.

The integration of RDMO (Research Data Management Organizer) with RADAR enables researchers to transfer existing metadata in their data management plan to the repository. By using specific plugins, metadata can be transferred efficiently between the two systems, thus avoiding error-prone multiple entries. Two options are available for this:

• If you have already created a dataset in RADAR: "Export: as RADAR XML": 
  Export a metadata XML file from RDMO and then import this file into the RADAR dataset in "pending" status.
• If you have not yet created a dataset in RADAR: "Export: directly to RADAR": 
  Directly transfer metadata from RDMO to RADAR using the RADAR REST API. In this case, a new, empty RADAR dataset is being created, into which research data content is then uploaded.

In both cases, the metadata can be further edited in RADAR and any missing metadata can be added.
