New prepayment option for RADAR Cloud

RADAR Cloud now offers the option of paying for storage services in advance. 

In this way, we are also responding to the requirements of institutions to pay the budget for storage services, which in the case of third-party funded research is usually only available for the duration of the project, once, entirely and on time. 

An advance payment can be made for a period of up to five calendar years. The amount depends on an individually defined maximum limit for the amount of data to be archived or published.

The advance payment must be agreed with us in advance. We will then issue an invoice within 14 days and provide the agreed storage space within a further 14 days after receipt of payment.

The new billing option has no influence on the retention periods for research data. Archived data will remain available for 10 years, published data for at least 25 years - regardless of the duration of the archiving period.

Important notes:

• The basic fee is excluded from the advance payment and is invoiced separately.
• Prepayment is only possible for usage-dependent fees that are billed as a one-off payment. This applies to all data publications and to data archiving, provided the one-off payment option (10-year retention period) has been selected.
• Any unused, prepaid storage space expires after five calendar years. The period begins with the first turn of the year after receipt of payment.

The new prepayment option complements the existing mode of annual billing, which is based on the data volume used in the previous year, and does not replace it.
