For Researchers

We understand that you, a member of the research community, are really busy. RADAR helps you archive and publish your research data with as little effort as possible – without compromising on convenience, data security, or legal aspects.

Secure Storage

Store your research data reliably in RADAR, either securely archived for private access or publicly accessible after publication. Completely under German jurisdiction.

Bitstream Preservation

You can rely on RADAR: RADAR preserves your research data in multiple copies bit by bit, for decades, according to the holding period selected.

An Offering for all Disciplines

RADAR is open to all data types and formats. Therefore, RADAR can be used for all scientific disciplines.

Metadata

Describe your research data to ensure that it can be found and understood in the future. The RADAR metadata scheme is discipline-agnostic and can therefore be used for all scientific disciplines.

DOI

Each dataset you publish is automatically assigned a Persistent Identifier (DOI) and registered with DataCite. This makes it persistently identifiable, findable and citable.

Reserve DOI

A DOI can be reserved immediately after the data upload. This allows you to cite the dataset already before publishing your research data.

Licenses for research data

Control how and under what conditions your research data may be re-used and choose the appropriate license (incl. Creative Commons 4.0).

Peer review link

Release your datasets for review before publication and share them with external reviewers or the publisher via a secure link.

Embargo

Specify an embargo period. This allows you to delay the publication of your research data (1-12 months). The related metadata is immediately visible to the public.

Unlimited Embargo

Only the metadata are published. The research data remain permanently inaccessible, but can be shared individually with other RADAR users.

Shared access

Share your archived research data with other RADAR users and define who has access to your preserved datasets.

Metadata Correction

If necessary, update the metadata of your already saved data set. The landing page is updated, but the saved dataset remains unchanged.

WebDAV Import

WebDAV can be used as an alternative to data transfer via the RADAR user interface in the web browser or via RADAR REST API.

Interfaces

Via interfaces the metadata of your published research data is disseminated and offered for harvesting. Your research data can then be found and reused more easily.

Citations

Suggestions for citations on the RADAR landing page make it easier for you and other researchers to cite a dataset unambiguously and correctly.

Metrics

Track how often your published research data is accessed and downloaded - so you can assess the impact of your research data.

For Institutions

Institutions can adapt RADAR flexibly to their in-house processes, technical resources, and responsibilities. We will be happy to advise you on finding the right depth of integration and the optimum RADAR variant for you.

Rights and roles

Map FDM workflows and responsibilities in RADAR. Define who is authorized to deposit, curate, archive, and publish research data.

Delegated authentication via Shibboleth

If your institution participates in DFN-AAI, no user registration is required. RADAR supports Shibboleth and allows to log in with your institutional account.

Workspaces

Set up workspaces where researchers organize, archive, or publish their data. Define the access rights to each workspace.

Branding

Customize RADAR in line with your institution’s corporate design. Brand the user interface with logo, spot color and links.

Your institution’s DOI prefix

Publish with your institution’s own DOI prefix (DataCite). All datasets published via RADAR thus receive your institution's individual branding via DOI.

Standard settings for metadata

Define the default values for all or individual workspaces and thus facilitate metadata annotation for the researchers of your institution.

Quota

Determine the maximum storage volume available to your researchers, thus limiting usage-based fees.

Usage statistics

Keep track of the total storage volume, the newly used storage volume and the number of RADAR datasets.

Integration via API

Integrate RADAR into your own workflows. Create your own GUI or use RADAR GUI and automated processes in parallel via API.

Harvesting as a set

Use our OAI provider to harvest metadata from your institution’s data publications as a set and include it automatically into your own publication lists.

RADAR variants

Use RADAR in line with your institution’s requirements and technical resources. RADAR Hybrid and RADAR Local allow for the integration of your own IT.

Alternative archive storage

You decide where your research data is stored. In the usual way with RADAR Cloud, or with RADAR Hybrid at a data center of your choice.
