Embargo

Specify an embargo period. This allows you to delay the publication of your research data. The related metadata is immediately visible to the public.

An embargo defines a period in which published datasets are not accessible, but the metadata records are publicly visible. The dataset is made accessible after the embargo period has expired. In RADAR, data publications can be delayed with day-specific embargo periods, for example to meet the requirements of specialist journals.

The embargo period can be subsequently changed (extended or shortened).

The embargo period can also be canceled completely. The data set is then immediately available for download via the RADAR portal.

It is also possible to publish RADAR datasets with an unlimited embargo (more information).

All Data sets in the embargo can be shared individually with other RADAR users via a request or release option. The “Request access” option is available on the landing page. The access request is form-based after authentication in RADAR. The data steward of the requested dataset then receives an email from RADAR and, after checking and consideration, can give his or her approval via the "Share dataset" function.
