Since Feb. 7, 2023 RADAR is available in the new software version 1.16.
All new functions focus on user-friendliness, convenience and support for workflows at the using institutions. Daily routines, such as the authorisation of new data providers or the information flow between sub-curators and curators, will now be supported by notification workflows via e-mail. In addition, administrators can generate a list of all data providers of their RADAR contract at any time.
The improvements in detail:
Authorisation of new (sub)curators:
As soon as RADAR users are authorised as (sub)curators or persons are preregistered as (sub)curators, RADAR now sends automatic e-mails with corresponding information on the role authorisation, the relevant workspace and the steps that now need to be taken (including a link to the RADAR Cloud homepage or the local RADAR instance). An automated e-mail is also being sent by the system in case of a withdrawal of authorisation.
Information flow between subcurator and curator:
The new buttons "Ready to archive", "Ready to publish" and "Ready to review" are now available for subcurators. They can use these as soon as they have created and annotated a dataset. With one click, the curators are informed by automated email to take over the request. The email will contain the subcurator's email address as well as the link to the dataset, thus making it easier for curators to both access the data and to contact the subcurator, if needed. (Please note: Clicking on the new buttons will neither validate the metadata nor put the dataset into a locked state. The data can therefore be further edited by both the sub-curator and the curator).
List all data providers and roles:
Administrators now have the new function "List all users and roles" available in the contract dashboard. With this function, a list of all data providers of the RADAR contract can be generated at any time (formats: .xls and .csv). The list contains the following information per line: Workspace | Role | First name / Last name (if stored) and User name | Email address.
Warning as soon as maximum file size is reached:
The maximum file size set by the archive system for RADAR Cloud is currently 600 GB per dataset. The system now has integrated a check mechanism as part of the upload process. If the maximum size is exceeded, a message is displayed prompting the user to reduce the data volume or to split the dataset into smaller part packages.
Display of the GND logo on RADAR landing page:
As soon as keywords from the GND (Integrated Authority File) have been selected, the GND logo is now also displayed on the RADAR landing page in front of the linked standards term. In the metadata editor itself, the suggestion list with the standards term shows the logo of the LOD interface lobid-gnd of the Hochschulrechenzentrums NRW, which is used for this function.
Further improvements in the info texts of the metadata editor as well as in the placeholder texts of various input fields complete the software release.
We hope to have optimised the user-friendliness with the new software v1.16 in your interest!
