RADAR4Memory is a reliable and low-threshold publishing service for historical research data based on our established data repository RADAR. 
With RADAR4Memory, we enable you to publish your digital research data easily, securely, and free of charge. 

At the same time, we offer the scientific community access to these research data publications according to the FAIR criteria (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable). RADAR4Memory thus makes an important contribution to the improved availability, sustainable preservation, and independent publication capability of digital research data in the field of historically working humanities.

This tailor-made service for researchers in the field of historical science was developed as part of our participation in the consortium for research data in the historical humanities NFDI4Memory, in which FIZ Karlsruhe - Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure is represented as a co-applicant.

NFDI4Memory is the consortium for the historically working humanities. The consortium addresses the historical sciences in their entire range of time periods, from antiquity, the Middle Ages and the early modern period to modern and contemporary history. Other subject areas that work with historical methods but are located in neighboring disciplines, such as economic and social history, area studies, religious studies and historical philosophy, are also systematically included. The consortium systematically integrates historical research, memory and information infrastructures in a digital research data infrastructure and, by developing innovative methods and services, enables a sustainable transformation of the historically working humanities. The aim is to transform the historical-critical method into the digital age and thus enable the historical humanities to continue to fulfill their socio-critical function in the future. The working program of the consortium comprises a total of six task areas, also with the participation of FIZ Karlsruhe. The consortium is funded by the German Research Foundation – 501609550.

The NFDI aims to build on existing infrastructures and services, whenever possible, and to make them interoperable. In this context, discipline-specific repositories for the publication and long-term archiving of digital research data are of particular importance to the scientific communities. Analyses within NFDI4Memory revealed an additional need that can be met by a generically oriented data repository such as RADAR. RADAR4Memory thus complements the existing portfolio of specialist repositories in the field of historically working humanities.

With RADAR4Memory, you can upload the research data from your studies and projects via a web portal, compile them into data sets, describe them with metadata, have them peer-reviewed, and make them permanently available to the public.

You can publish all data types and formats with RADAR4Memory. The service is therefore suitable for research data on all historically working humanities. You can publish data sets

• for which there is no tailor-made, specialist repository yet, or
• that contain such a large variety of data types that they do not fit into one single established repository, or
• that you would like to link to a data set in a specialist repository via DOI.

As a researcher you do not have to pay any usage or publication fees for RADAR4Memory. You can also use RADAR4Memory independently of your institutional affiliation.

RADAR4Memory is based on the well-established research data repository RADAR Cloud, which was developed as part of a DFG project. Since 2017, RADAR has been operated by FIZ Karlsruhe - Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure on a secure cloud platform. Research data is stored in three copies at different locations in the data centers of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and TU Dresden. RADAR is operated exclusively in Germany and according to German law and is of course GDPR-compliant.

With RADAR4Memory, FIZ Karlsruhe provides the community with a free storage quota for the publication of research data and takes over the fees for the DOI registration. The costs are borne by FIZ Karlsruhe from its funding budget for NFDI4Memory.

Please note:

• The offer is aimed exclusively at researchers at publicly funded research institutions and universities as well as non-commercial academies, libraries, archives and museums in Germany.
• Currently, the use of RADAR4Memory is limited to a maximum of 10 GB storage volume per research project.
• Before you can publish data in RADAR4Memory you have to agree to the RADAR4Memory License and User Instructions (PDF).

• Research teams can also use RADAR4Memory: The RADAR rights and role model allows to define workflows and to assign additional data providers with limited rights.

A RADAR knowledge graph based on the Schema.org vocabulary is created on a regular basis. The RDF triples of all RADAR4Memory publications are updated daily and are available in turtle format (.ttl) at the following URL
